Really good experience at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge. Nice and clean canvas tents with a furnace, comfortable beds, and lots of room. The lodge restaurant was decent, however they ran out of whole eggs and tortillas during our stay, so certain menu items were unavailable. Good location for whatever activities you may want to do. Really nice river access for fishing, swimming, or lounging.

We stayed one night in July 2026, booking two canvas tent cabins for a group of five before starting a four-day backpacking trip. The front desk staff were welcoming and made check-in quick and easy. This lodge is an excellent choice for backpackers. We intentionally packed light and appreciated that the communal shower facilities included BeKind shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap. The showers had reliable hot water and good water pressure, which felt like a luxury before heading into the backcountry. The lodge also provides free coffee beginning at 7:00 a.m. and hot water for preparing camping meals. Wheelbarrows were readily available throughout the property for transporting luggage between the parking area and tent cabins. The canvas tent cabins were clean, quiet, and comfortable. The beds are dorm-style on spring platforms with standard linens, and while the pillows were a little clumpy, we all slept well. Each tent has a wood-burning stove, and the lodge supplies both firewood and fire starters. Even in July, our tent cooled down overnight, so I’d recommend preparing the stove before going to bed. (I even managed to set off the smoke alarm while lighting ours!) Dinner at the lodge restaurant was worth it. Prices were fair, portions were slightly smaller than average but satisfying, and the food was a welcome treat before our backpacking trip. One point of friction involved reservations. The website indicated that dinner reservations must be made in person on the day of arrival, so we packed an extra meal in case the restaurant was full. Fortunately, after checking in around 6:00 p.m. on a Tuesday, we were able to secure a 6:45 p.m. reservation. I would love to see the lodge offer at least a limited number of advance reservations—even for a small fee—to help backpackers plan their meals more confidently. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the Rafferty Creek Trailhead, with a peaceful picnic area beside the creek for preparing meals. If you’re arriving on YARTS, note that the bus stops at Lembert Dome rather than the lodge, requiring about a 20-minute walk on established trails. Connectivity is limited. There was no Wi-Fi during our stay. We had no T-Mobile service, some Verizon coverage, and I can’t comment on AT&T. The front office also sells items like ice cream and beer, which is a nice bonus after a day outdoors. Overall, I’d happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable base before or after a Yosemite backpacking trip. While it’s more expensive than a traditional campground, the hot showers, available restaurant, complimentary morning coffee, hot water for camping meals, comfortable accommodations, and convenient location made it feel well worth the extra cost.

4 stars for the rooms only because getting even heat from a stove overnight is difficult. Also finding space for food in the bear boxes was a bit stressful initially. But this is truly glamping at its best. I wish we had had more time. So much more peaceful than the valley. We saw the milky way and loved chatting with our fellow campers at breakfast.
